The Early Years

Patsy Powell and the Playboys may have been new to TV but they had already had a period of success with their Country music act.

On 28 September 1970 the band were featured on Terry Wogan’s afternoon show on Radio One.

Festival Of Country Music

In April 1971 the group appeared on the line-up of the Third International Festival of Country Music at Empire Pool, Wembley, London.
They appeared on the same bill as well known acts such as George Hamilton IV, Waylon Jennings, Loretta Lynn and Hank Williams Jr.

LP Release

In 1971 the band also released the album Husband Hunting, under the name of Patsy Powell and the Honky Tonk Playboys, on the Avenue label. As well as the title track it also featured covers of tracks from Tammy Wynette and Dolly Parton.  The band line-up on the LP is;

  1. We used to watch Ptsy and the boys every Thursday night at the Weavers, Stoney Staunton Rd. Coventry. Top class entertainment.
